Notting Hill's Most Colourful Streets

Saint Luke’s Mews

We’ll kick our guide to Notting Hill’s most colourful streets off with this absolute gem!

If you’re thinking this street looks pretty familiar, you’re right. This is the street where Andrew Lincoln declares his love for Kiera Knightley in Love Actually. The pink house to be exact!

If you also fancy living here, you best get yourself on the waiting list. People tend to stay forever and who can blame them?! You’ll also need to have a good chunk of money as a three-bedroom house is worth approximately two and a half million pounds!!

Portobello Road

Next on our list of Notting Hill’s most colourful streets is another world-renowned road, Portobello Road.

Portobello Road is famous for being the largest antique market in the world and although full of life every day really comes alive on Saturdays.

Again, if this feels like a familiar street, you can thank another Richard Curtis film. This is the street we see Hugh Grant walking down in the opening scenes of Notting Hill.

Lancaster Road

The houses on Lancaster Road aren’t as in-your-face as some of Notting Hill’s other streets. Windows and pillars are painted with different pastel colours and look completely charming!

Our Top Tip: if you can, time your visit to Notting Hill’s most colourful streets in the spring. A lot of the streets are lined with cherry blossoms which add to the charm.

Elgin Crescent

Elgin Crescent is hands down one of Notting Hill’s most colourful streets. The entire length of the street is lined with vibrant-coloured houses dating back to the 1800s. You’ll struggle to put our camera down!

It was a happy accident we stumbled across this quaint lane on our way to Norland Place from Elgin Crescent. We couldn’t resist taking a couple of photos and adding Pottery Lane to our list.

Norland Place

What a street Norland Place is! I think living here would give us a bit of a headache but it’s a great place to come, photograph and share on Instagram.

Holland Park Mews

Now, this street we could live on!

A stone’s throw from Holland Park is the elegant Holland Park Mews. This street is more subtle compared to the other ones in this guide but the garages and front doors are all different colours and combined with the cobbled street is irresistible!

Where to stay to visit Notting Hill’s most colourful streets

If you’re only here for a few days, we’d recommend staying more towards Central London so you have easy access to other areas of the city. Notting Hill is a beautiful area and has many gorgeous hotels, however, it can take a while to get to as it’s farther out west.

Notting Hill is located on the Central Line so between Tottenham Court Road and Bank is great if you want to be in the heart of the action in The City or Soho.

Alternatively, Ladbroke Grove is on the circle and Hammersmith and City Line so Victoria, Embankment, St James’s Park or Whitechapel are great locations to stay.
